Faith Connections on Mental Illness
The mission of Faith Connections on Mental Illness is to work with all local faith communities to advocate for and to support and educate individuals and families who are living with mental illness.
Faith Connections began with a few individuals at a church in Chapel Hill helping to stop the stigma of mental illness and battle the sense of isolation and rejection.
Individuals and houses of worship from all faiths are invited to join this coalition. Through education and advocacy in the community and individual congregations, Faith Connections offers support and comfort to the mentally ill and people who care for and about them.
Our members, called Connectors, participate in a variety of events throughout the year.
Connectors meetings - open to everyone - are held on the 2nd Monday of every month, and typically feature an informative program on mental illness.

Faith Connections' three areas of focus are:![]() Advocacy FCOMI believes that as people of faith, we are called to be active in social justice initiatives that help to educate the public and remove the stigma often associated with Mental Illness. Follow our Events page for details on upcoming events. ![]() Support FCoMI believes in providing support directly to people managing their symptoms of mental illness and to their families, to help them through their struggles and to serve as an example to other faith based organizations who strive to support people with this special need. ![]() Education
FCoMI believes in an active program of education within communities of faith to help them better understand the difficulties faced by people with Mental Illness and how they can provide support within a loving faith based community. Each month we hold an educational session at our Connectors meetings. All are welcome to join. Our biggest educational event is our Annual Conference. With the sunrise of each new day comes
the dawn of hope. Psalm 97:11 |
